1. What is TRENDkeeper™?
TRENDkeeper™ is a proprietary GDI system that evaluates your performance using 24 distinct variables. In doing so, you can identify areas of strength and weakness which can assist you in elevating your game. It has been designed with a simple interface that will allow the serious netminders to track performance trends and convert these trends into developmental guidance year round.

TRENDkeeper™ 1.0 has been in existence since 1997. However, it has currently been overhauled to eliminate recurring system bugs and to add new functionality. TRENDkeeper™ 2.0's new functionality includes:

2. If I make a mistake, can I modify already entered data?
Yes. With 2.0, you can retrieve game events. A game event is a previously submitted set of data. When a game event is selected the data fields are re-populated. Modifications can then be made and resubmitted.

In modifying your data, the system will automatically update your trend data.

3. Where can I download game report forms?
Game report forms are found under the TRENDkeeper™ menu item on the main navigation. The subsequent drop down menu has an item called Download Forms. Select this destination and you will find blank Game Report forms as well as a Sample Game Report.

4. Why do total shots and total saves need to be accounted for in each area of analysis?

There are three areas of analysis in the TRENDkeeper™ system. These are:

Each of these areas will be assessed using your total shots and total saves. In other words, each area is an independent area of analysis. When you output your reports, you will find a graph for each of these three areas.

In TRENDkeeper™ 2.0, the shot tabulators ensure that these shot/save relationships are maintained.

5. How many games should be entered before the trends are reflective of my performance?
Statistical data is only valid over time. When you enter your first game, the system will begin to assess your performance and highlight areas of weakness. Legitimate trends will begin to occur following approximately five games.

This does not mean that you should ignore the system's analysis but rather keep the volume of data in perspective. For instance, you may have a great glove hand. On a given night, however, you get beat twice to this area. Being the first game you enter, the system may signal this as a weakness. You will have to determine whether this is an accurate reflection. With this said, you may think you have a great glove hand but, after 20 games of entry, if the system states it as a weakness then, indeed, it is a weakness.

6. How can date-sensitive and opposition based reports help my game?

DATE-SENSITIVE REPORTING
Date-sensitive reports (DT report) are useful to monitor your improvements. For example, you may get used to running a year-to-date report (YTD report) to see your trends. You are working diligently, on the areas of specified weakness. You should check your progress using a DT report. For example, you run an YTD report in December. This report is compiling all of your data. However, for the past month, you have been working on deflections due to the YTD's indication that it is a weakness. To check, run a report for the past month to see if this weakness is still appearing. You don't want stale data to affect your trends. You may find running the DS report that deflection is no longer listed as a weakness but a new weakness has popped up. You should adjust your developmental focus since you have corrected the previous weakness.

OPPOSITION REPORTING
Opposition reports (O report) are useful for game preparation. You have played a certain team four times. Run your report on this team to see their scoring trends on you. If, for example, they have a high proportion of screen and deflection type goals then you know and can prepare for lots of traffic.

The O report is a game-preparation tool while the DS and YTD reports are superior long-term development tools.

7. When I start a new season, how can I reset my data?
You can reset your data by going to the Modify Data page. Here, you can select your prior game events and delete them. There is a tool at the top of the table that allows you to Select All Events.

Be sure this is what you want to do. Once your game data has been deleted, it cannot be recovered. You should, therefore, run final reports before undertaking this procedure.

8. Should I reset my data for the playoffs?
Some goaltenders like to monitor themselves during playoffs. You can either reset your data as described in Q7 above or you can simply run a Date Sensitive report for the desired playoff period.

Remember, if you delete your events, they cannot be recovered.

9. What membership package includes TRENDkeeper™?
TRENDkeeper™ is part of GDIadvantage Premier.

10. TRENDkeeper™ uses underlying performance benchmarks for each variable - how do these work?
The TRENDkeeper™ system is based upon a series of performance benchmarks that are invisible to you. These benchmarks have been established by GDI and measure your performance rate against our set benchmarks.

For instance, we expect that a goaltender will have greater success against a Wraparound than a Passout. Therefore, the performance benchmark is higher for the Wraparound than the Passout. If you fall below the specified benchmark the system will mark it as a weakness.

11. TRENDkeeper™ and the Drill Database™ are integrated - what does this mean?
Correct. These two applications are tied closely together. However, it should be pointed out at the beginning that this integration is only useful if you are using TRENDkeeper™. The idea behind the integration is to provide meaningful development guidance. When GDI's TRENDkeeper™ system identifies an area of weakness in your game, it will submit appropriate, corrective drills to your Favorite Drills folder. The Favorite Drills folder is a function of the Drill Database™. When you go to your Favorite Drills, you will see these drills available. Print them out, take them to the rink and use them. You may want to provide them to your coach for integration into your practice.

So, beyond the identification of your strengths and weaknesses, GDI provides drills to immediately attack your weaknesses so you can constantly refine your game.

1. What is STATkeeper™?
STATkeeper™ records and measures your statistical performance. There are five major statistics that you can record using GDI's STATkeeper™ system. They are:

In addition to knowing your stats, the system allows you to view Global Leaderboards. If you are at the top of your game, you might find yourself listed.

2. What is the benefit of keeping track of my stats?
Watching and tracking your statistics can tell you the direction your game is heading but, more importantly, demonstrates that you take your performance seriously. Building this type of habit along with the required levels of discipline and focus are key to development gains.

3. What is the GPR?
The GPR is another GDI proprietary system. It stands for the Goalie Power Rating. The idea behind the GPR is to consolidate a goaltender's statistical performance into a single number. It operates in a similar fashion as the NFL Quarterback Rating System. It combines major, and easily obtainable statistics, into this single number. In the case of the GPR, the inputs include a goalie's record, GAA, save percentage and shutouts. These stats are filtered through our GPR formulas to arrive at the final number.

The system is designed so that premium performance is measured right around 100. Over the course of a season, if your GPR is around 100, you are operating at an outstanding rate of performance.

You can see the GPR at work here at the GDI site by going to The Goalie News section and selecting Power Rankings. Another site that uses the GPR is www.goalies.com. Here, go to Stats and Ratings to find the GPR for NHL, AHL, ECHL, major junior and college goaltenders.

4. Is there a minimum and maximum GPR?
Yes. The minimum possible GPR is zero. The maximum GPR is 157.67.

5. Which membership package includes STATkeeper™?
STATkeeper™ is included in the GDIadvantage Free package.

6. Where do I find detailed instructions on how to use STATkeeper™?
You can find more detailed instructions about STATkeeper™ under the STATkeeper™ menu option and then by selecting How to Use from the drop-down menu.

7. If I make a mistake, can I go back and modify data I have already entered?
Yes. Like TRENDkeeper™ 2.0, STATkeeper™ has been upgraded with a Modify Data option.

2. How do you use it?
The Drill Database™ uses an intuitive search mechanism. You start by selecting a main category (e.g. Positioning). Next, a series of sub categories (e.g. Angle, Depth, Body and General) will appear. 5. Which membership package includes the Drill Database™?
The Drill Database™ is a major functionality within the GDIadvantage Premier package.

6. How does the Drill Database™/TRENDkeeper™ integration work?
The Drill Database™ and TRENDkeeper™ are integrated tightly together. However, it should be noted that this integration is of no consequence unless a goaltender is using TRENDkeeper™ diligently. Each of these tools can operate autonomously but to get the full power of their effectiveness, both can be used in tandem.
